Nairobi KENYA July 11,2019 – The Principal Secretary (PS) for Health Susan Mochache has lauded the plan to construct a 210 bed capacity hospital in Homabay County.
Today the PS met with the County Executive Committee Member for Health Professor Richard Muga to discuss the planned construction and the upgrade of the Homabay County Referral Hospital to a functional referral hospital to accelerate attainment of universal Health Coverage (UHC).
The PS lauded the hospital project plan which the county will implement in partnership with Standard Medical Group (Stanmed) and assured the Ministry’s technical support to ensure successful implementation of UHC.
Homabay county is among the counties that have established an Act for engagement of Community Health Volunteers (CHVs), as a key pillar for Primary Healthcare.
The county has already engaged 2800 CHVs and enrolled them in the National Hospital Insurance Fund (NHIF) and is procuring all the county medical commodities from the Kenya Medical Supplies Authority (KEMSA) in support of the governments venture to strengthen KEMSA and NHIF.
