Homabay has been on a steadfast fight against HIV/AIDS in the region. Various initiatives, and services have since been deployed to ensure we enable sustainable treatment and care of patients living with HIV/AIDS. The end goal, is to reduce risks and stigmatization and most especially completely eradicate the disease from among our people. To achieve this, Homabay County Health has worked reverently on executing the following functions: Preventing HIV infections Improving detection among people living with HIV Increasing access to high-quality care and treatment services Expanding access to HIV testing and counseling services Improving adherence to treatment Providing linkages between the community-based and the facility-based interventions

"Anne Adhiambo, 36, she was advised by a relative to visit a nearby health facility, explain her medical history and get a check-up due to her deteriorating health. She was tested and found to be HIV-positive. She accepted her condition and got enrolled to ARVs. Adhiambo is among a number of residents from Homa Bay who have accepted their condition after testing HIV positive. They have healthy children and are committed to ensuring the prevalence rate reduces further."
